John C. Cahalan

John C. Cahalan is a lifelong Wayne County resident. He graduated from University of Detroit Jesuit High School on Seven Mile Road in Detroit. John continued in the Jesuit tradition and received his Bachelor of Arts from Marquette University, and his Juris Doctorate from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.

While in law school, John clerked for Wayne County Circuit Court Judge John H. Gillis, Jr., Michigan Supreme Court Justice Maura D. Corrigan, the law firm of Morgan & Meyers, PLC, and The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

Since law school, John has spent every day in the courtroom advocating for others. He began his career at a well-known general practice firm. While there, John gained a wealth of experience handling cases ranging from business counseling to criminal defense. John then began as an associate at a prominent personal injury firm fighting for the rights of individuals injured by harm and seeking the justice they deserved. From there, John spent several years as an associate at one of Michigan’s largest defense litigation firms. John has tried numerous cases to jury verdict across the State of Michigan.

After running for Wayne County Circuit Judge in 2018, John realized that his passion was fighting for individuals. As he has stated, “If I cannot mete out justice from the bench, I will seek out justice for my clients.”

In 2019, John joined Thomas Krall in forming Cahalan & Krall, PLLC. John’s current practice includes personal injury, criminal defense, family law, civil litigation, probate, creditor/debtor litigation, and landlord tenant disputes.

John is currently a member of countless community organizations servicing the Metro Detroit area as well as the legal community.

John follows in a deep tradition of advocating and serving others with many members of John’s family holding elected office including the Wayne County Prosecutor, the Mayor of Detroit, members of the judiciary from Circuit Court to the Michigan Supreme Court, members of the Michigan Legislature, and members of the Wayne County Commission.
